Cape Coral History

Cape Coral belongs to Lee County and is a fast growing city that has its origins in around 60 years ago. It is a typical American city with European influence. From the In the 50's a boom began to appear in this region. In 1957 the foundation of the Gulf American Land Corporation. The owners, Leonard and Jack Rosen, started to sell their estates north of the Caloosahatchee River into a true Venice of Florida. At the end of the 50's the construction of the first houses was started. Today Cape Coral has a huge network of water canals over 600 kilometres long. The Rosen brothers have been running intensive promotion and advertising campaigns. Cape Coral developed very quickly.
